A Big Animal

Prepariamo l’immagine di un ippopotamo e posizioniamola ca-

povolta sulla lavagna, così che i bambini non la possano vedere.

Diamo poi degli indizi relativi all’ippopotamo (v. figura n. 1) e

invitiamo gli alunni a indovinare di quale animale si tratta.

Dopo che i bambini lo avranno scoperto, diciamo:

The mysterious animal is the hippopotamus. The word “hippo” is
the short form. The plural is hippopotami.

Quindi, mostriamo l’immagine che abbiamo appeso sulla lava-

gna e avvisiamo la classe che ascolteremo una storia il cui pro-

tagonista è proprio un ippopotamo molto goloso ed egoista

(greedy and selfish).
